About Us
At Midwest Vascular & Varicose Vein Center, our mission is simple: We strive to provide our patients with the most exceptional care possible with friendly, knowledgeable staff and to educate our patients to make informed decisions regarding their healthcare. We offer a comprehensive approach to vascular disorders and offer preventative screenings, diagnostic tests, and the latest treatments options available.
Midwest Vascular & Varicose Vein Center is led by Dr. Innocent Ubunama, a board certified general surgeon, whose skills include general vascular and endovascular surgery, as well as phlebology. Dr. Ubunama has been practicing almost 20 years in private practice and originally came to Northwest Ohio in 2007 opening up an office in Bowling Green, Ohio. In 2007, he expanded his practice and opened an additional office in Holland, Ohio. Along with his 2 office locations and the newly renovated surgery center, Dr. Ubunama helped pioneer the development of the Vascular Surgery Program and Vascular Lab at Wood County Hospital.
The staff, along with Dr. Ubunama, specialize in treating spider and varicose veins to help you achieve the optimal results for your legs. Sclerotherapy for spider veins involves the injection of an FDA approved chemical solution (either liquid or foam) directly in the vein, which causes the vein wall to collapse. The collapsed veins will be reabsorbed by the body over time and disappear from sight, eliminating the unsightly veins. Varicose veins are also a common problem for many, and can be treated with procedures including radiofrequency ablation, EVLT, and microphlebectomy, which are done in less than an hour and allow you to return to most of your daily activities with little downtime.
Dr. Ubunama also performs arteriograms in office, which help those with peripheral artery disease (PAD). An arteriogram is a diagnostic procedure that provides detailed x-ray images of the blood flow, or circulation in your arteries. In many cases, an intervention such as using a balloon to open up a blockage, placing a stent, or using specialized equipment to remove the blockage can be done along with the diagnostic procedure to restore normal blood flow. We offer preventative screenings for peripheral artery disease, and patients suffering from high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, leg pain or fatigue, restless legs and leg cramps could benefit greatly from this.
